About myself

Motivation

The opportunities afforded to people who are fluent in multiple languages has always fascinated me, and in a similar way, I see learning mathematics as a gateway to a new cultural world. My interest in this abstract world and it's influence on the tangible world continues to drive my studies.

Studies

During my undergraduate studies I chose Mathematics as my major, because I saw it as a very challenging field which is poorly explored and offers many possibilities for research. In the course of my five-year undergraduate studies I read pure mathematics (especially analysis, function analysis, algebra and applied mathematics) and gained an appreciation of the many ways that mathematics may be applied to our understanding of the world around us. During this time I was also introduced to the areas of probability theory, game theory, control theory and financial mathematics, areas that continue to be of strong interest to me. I engaged in astrophysics research, resulting in a paper titled “Stability of circular regular motion of two solid bodies in case of G.N. Duboshin”.

In 2007 I received my Diploma degree (with distinction) and decided to continue my studies towards a master degree of Science in Mathematics (Economic & Financial).

The final research project for my Masters was on the subject of “Martingales and Their Applications”. I chose this subject because it gave me the chance to improve my knowledge in Stochastic, Probability Theory and Gambling Theory.

Teaching Experience

In 2007 I became a research assistant under in the Institute of Algebraic Geometry in the Hanover University, which gave me the opportunity to develop my teaching skills, both as tutor, relief lecturer and exam marker.
