Resolving functional nucleic acid dynamics


Our main research interest lies on the characterization of structural and dynamic features of RNA and DNA. For that purpose we use chemo-enzymatic synthesis to produce site-specific  13C/15N/2H-modified nucleotide building blocks for chemical and enzymatic RNA and DNA synthesis. The improved labeling protocol enables to study micro- to millisecond dynamics via NMR. Using this approach functionally important states can be characterized, which are often transiently and weakly populated.
